Realization of Offshore Energy

Environmentally friendly power generation has reached its new peak in the development of wind energy. Unlike wind farms on land, offshore wind plant has a great advantage with thanks to the steady wind; more energy can be made available for consumers.

Offshore Energy

On the other hand, with the idea of reducing lengthy and costly litigation for consumers, emergence of offshore wind farms came with new problems requesting answers to the following questions:

How are can such large projects be implemented at low cost?

How can the construction and commissioning be achieved?

How should maintenance be carried out?

How long can these new plants produce constant and most especially, reliable electricity?

What about the storage of excess energy?

Availability of wind on the high seas has brought about generation of environmentally friendly energy in a new era. These wind farms are seen to make a fundamental contribution to the realization of the energy revolution in the world.

By 2030, offshore wind farms are to be built with a capacity of around 15GW in the waters of the North and Baltic Seas. It is estimated that up to fifteen million households will be provided with green electricity.

Offshore Energy

Just as the name implies, offshore wind energy production is the generation of energy from wind turbines at sea. Because of offshore wind availability, installed offshore wind farms generate twice as much electricity as produced by similar installations on land. Thus they have a particularly large proportion of high reliability in power generation.

The utilization of wind in the area where the turbines are installed is significantly more than 90 percent throughout the year, so that electricity can be recovered environmentally friendly almost around the clock.

Offshore wind energy is making a huge impact in deciding on the public energy policy. It also gains huge support because switching to renewable long-term energy will create a strong move away from nuclear and fossil power generation methods.

The sizes of offshore wind turbines cannot be compared with typical rural facilities. The total weight of a plant often exceeds the weight of one thousand tons, which is roughly equivalent to the weight of a thousand small Car!

The wind turbines are up to nine hundred-ton foundations and the dimensions of the equipment are disproportionately greater than on the mainland. The average rotor diameter of offshore wind turbines of up to 125 meters and has a total height of over 170 meters.

The commissioning and creation of a wind farm at sea is a very complex project involving many different stakeholders. It starts with the planning and approval and goes beyond the investment decision to the creation of the park.

Offshore Energy

In addition to developers and the future managers, owners of offshore wind farms, the associated authorities, different vendors, component manufacturers, logistics and port operators are involved in the "birth" of offshore wind farms.

The reasons shown here are often the crucial point some companies tend to pull back to participate in this field and possibly to identify new business opportunities. One thing is clear: Offshore wind farms are in vogue, green energy has become a trend and in addition there are very often high subsidies.
